SHIRT COMPARISON FOR HOME PAGE

We launched TEAL Apparel with pants because you can’t hide floods. But, shirts for tall men can be just as challenging if not more!  Which is why we developed our own line of shirts that are fit for the man with a slimmer silhouette, longer torso and longer arms. No dis to regular shirts, they just don’t cut it if you’re long & tall.

Our Interns: Lauren and Naomi

October 1st, 2017

interns 5

Naomi Ricciotti, Newbury College, Graduate

Naomi on what she learned

Thoughts on being an intern?

Being an intern at TEAL Apparel was an awesome experience. Jenni is a great mentor and I learned so much throughout the duration of the internship. I enjoyed going to work because it was such a positive atmosphere and there was never a dull moment. The internship was very hands on and I learned something new every day!

What did you expect?

When I walked through the door on my first day of the internship I had already known that I was going to have a great experience. Jenni spoke about her goals and the company with so much passion which got me really excited before even starting my internship. I didn’t expect that we would get to visit the factory which was one of my favorite experiences

Best part of the internship?

The best part of the internship was the fact that I got to see and be involved in so many different aspects of the business. Every time I came in to work I had a different task to achieve which not only challenged me but allowed me to learn something new. For example, one day I would be conducting research for product development versus another day where I would be creating social media posts.

What surprised you the most?

What surprised me the most was how involved Jenni gets with her interns. I loved the working environment because it was more face to face which allowed us to work together as a team. Whether I had a question or an idea about something she was there to listen and give input. She was with me every step of the way and we made a great team!

This past Winter/Spring TEAL had a new first. Instead of one intern we lucked out with two. This dynamic duo came to us from Newbury College, with Fashion Merchandising majors and several shared experiences including, study abroad in Florence, Italty to directing and coordinating the College’s fashion show. To say we hit the jackpot was an understatement. They cranked out blog posts, did research on several new products, sat in on sample fittings, shot tons of material for social media, coordinated a photoshoot, joined a sales pitch to a new client and journeyed to our factory in Everett.  Lauren and Naomi model teamwork, commitment, creativity and determination. Thank you and congratulations on your graduation from Newbury College! Wishing you both much learning and success.

Our Interns: Lauren and Naomi

Lauren Shropshire, Newbury College, Graduate

Lauren (left) on what she learned

Thoughts on being an intern?

I really enjoyed being an intern at TEAL Apparel. I not only had fun, but I feel that I learned a lot about how a business runs. I really loved being up close with the products, and being able to see all the different facets of how the product goes from being an idea to becoming a reality. I liked that TEAL was a small company, because I feel that if I had interned at a large corporation, I wouldn’t have learned as much.

What did you expect?

I don’t really know what I expected to be honest. I guess when I think of an intern and an internship, I think of someone who is fetching coffees for the big boss. But that is not what TEAL was like at all. I didn’t think as an intern that Jenni would ask for my opinion or my input on products as much as she did. I also didn’t think the internship would be as hands on as it was.

Best part of the internship?

There were a lot of best parts of this internship for me. One of the parts that I really enjoyed was going to the factory. I loved seeing where and how the clothing was made. I also really liked sitting in on meetings with Jenni. I thought it was very interesting to see how meetings like this work. I think I learned a lot from watching Jenni in these meetings, and hearing and seeing the types of questions she asks, and how she answers the questions that are posed to her.

What surprised you the most?

Hmmm…The thing that surprised me the most is how cool Jenni is and how passionate she is about TEAL Apparel. Like I said, I didn’t really know what to expect with this Internship, but Jenni exceeded anything that I could have imagined. She was just so helpful, I feel that I’ve learned a lot with just talking to Jenni and getting advice on my future. Jenni is very insightful, super encouraging and supportive. I really enjoyed this internship, and all the information and skills that I have gained from this.

Tall Living: Bedroom

February 16th, 2017

Tall Living Bed

Do your feet hang out from under your comforter or hang off the bed?

Feeling comfortable in bed is one of the biggest challenges for tall people. Either you’re stuck lying diagonal in bed or curled up in a ball. One way you can combat this problem is to buy a larger bed. An average king sized bed is 80 inches, or 6ft 6in, but some feet are still dangling off the edge. A California King mattress gives you an extra 4 inches in length as well as width. Or you can get a custom-made mattress, or even mattress extenders.

You can shop online at these retailers for longer mattresses and extenders.

Have a good night!

Tall Hotness Found!

November 17th, 2015

You Are The Bomb

family 6

Our Fall 2015 Campaign features the gorgeous, generous, game for anything Dow Family! We first met Tuffer earlier this year as a customer. Selling to an underserved niche market we generally have two types of customers: excited and passionate (read: super psyched!).

family 8

Tuffer quickly revealed that he was in the latter camp. I recall having an in depth phone conversation with him about tall men’s clothing. We covered everything. One purchase turned into multiple purchases and start of a friendship.

family 4

What really sets Tuffer apart is his personality. He is smart funny and self-deprecating, just like TEAL Apparel! When we approached him about being the face of our next campaign he didn’t bat an eyelash.  He even recruited his wife and daughter.

family 3

Our shoot took place at the Dexter Southfield Boathouse on the Charles River.  The model, family and location were the perfect reflection of the TEAL Apparel Man.

Tuffer and Erin, we are so lucky to be able to shoot you all. Thank you for rolling with the punches, doing the heavy lifting, erging, sculling and being the best model family we could ever ask for! We are deeply grateful to have friends like you.

Our Intern: Gabrielle Bailey

June 12th, 2015

Gabrielle Bailey, The New England Institute of Art, Graduate

Your thoughts on being an intern…

Being an intern at TEAL was an amazing experience. My last two quarters were hectic, but I loved being able to do some serious work outside of school.

What did you expect…

I did not know what to expect because it was my first internship. I assumed I would be doing some work off to the side and less hands on work as most students predict. I was put to work doing what I loved, what I knew and new things I had no idea I could do.

Best part of the internship…

I learned things about myself and what I can contribute to the business and fashion world. I was able to see factories, learn more about what goes into running a small business, which was perfect for me. Best part was feeling wanted and heard every time I went to work. I did not feel like an intern but someone who was part of something great.

What surprised you the most…

Not being a long & tall man, I was surprised at how needed TEAL is for this niche market!

Letter from the Founder

December 17th, 2014

A conversation with longtime fan and TEAL Customer, Mike, sparked this blog post.

MIKE MEDIUM

(Above: Mike and his daughter on a hike)

After his recent purchase of our All American chinos, Mike and I had a phone conversation. He revealed that he was so happy to have “figured out pants”. Knowing exactly where he could go to purchase chinos that fit, taking the guesswork out of size and quality, was a relief.  My response was that now he could apply the energy, that he used to reserve for finding clothes, to go out and live his life. This led our conversation to Mark Zuckerberg and his grey t-shirts.

zuckerberg grey t shirt

At a Facebook Town Hall Meeting, Zuckerberg answered a question about his limited wardrobe by claiming that he simply lacks the time and energy to pick a new outfit every day. “I really want to clear my life to make it so that I have to make as few decisions as possible about anything except how to best serve the community,” he said.

What I really like about Zuckerberg’s thinking is his formulaic approach to dressing.  Wearing one type of clothing (for Mark it’s a grey t-shirt, for the tall guy it’s a TEAL chino) you can “rip and reapply” every day. Removing the unnecessary guess work and energy to dress frees up time to use somewhere else!

If you recall, I blogged about trying to find a winter coat for my husband. It was a multi-day, several step process that involved driving across state borders, shopping in stores and online and waiting for days. (read the post: http://tealapparel.com/tall-adventure-married-to-the-teal-man/)

shopping adventure

I understand what it’s like to crack the code in tall menswear department, the emotions range from genuine excitement to relief. My goal is for TEAL Apparel to help tall men and their loved ones find pants that fit, enabling them to solve a clothing problem, feel incredible about how they look and free up time to play the game of life.

Happy Holidays and here’s to cracking the code!
